I am dying to know. Because I want to share something with you.
Did you know millions of mutts are killed every year because no one is adopting them at local animal shelters? According to population estimates from the Humane Society of the United States, six to eight million cats and dogs enter U.S. animal shelters each year, and three to four million of those animals are euthanized.
Next time you think of adopting a dog into your life, consider a shelter dog. These are generally sweeter, because in a sense, they understand that you just saved their life from dying in a smelly shelter without feeling loved and wanted. Don't go to puppy mills to try to adopt a dog.
The real definition of a puppy mill is a substandard kennel with unhealthy, overbred dogs in horrendous conditions.
Basically, these dogs are neglected. They die from giving birth to to many puppies. Do you want to support this?
I am not saying I am totally against purebred dogs. Infact, if you are a first time dog owner, it is probably best. They are more predictable than mixed breeds. What I mean by this is you have a good idea of how big they are gonna get, how they are gonna act, and how you will need to take care of them.
A "mutt" will generally be more surprising. I, as the owner or two mutts, did not know how big either of them were gonna get, how they would look, how they were going to act, and how I should give them general care.
If this has helped bring you into the light, say so, if you think this is a boring lecture, say so. I want your insight, because I think this is going to be my main concept of how I want people to think of dogs. They are truly man's/woman's best friend. I haven't ever loved anything more than I love my animals because they won't judge you. If I was scared, or sad, or just having an aweful day, I looked to my dogs and they looked at me with a wagging tail and love in their eyes and they are basically saying 'I love you. How can I make your day better?" Just think about this.
